Commercial General Liability — $5,000,000
This policy protects you from unexpected events such as accidental damage to walls, doors, or other property, as well as third-party injuries during your move.
Motor Truck Cargo — $1,000,000
Your possessions are covered while in our care—whether they’re being wrapped, loaded, transported, or unloaded. This includes protection against theft, accidents, and other unforeseen incidents, subject to policy terms and limits.
Auto Insurance — Fully Insured Fleet
Every Paramount Moving vehicle is fully insured for collision and comprehensive coverage. Our auto insurance safeguards your belongings while they’re on the road, giving you confidence that both your items and our drivers are protected.
Workers’ Compensation (WCB)
Our team is covered by WCB, meaning that if someone is injured while working on your property, you’re fully protected from liability.
Insurance Options for Your Belongings
In addition to standard coverage, we offer two levels of protection for your household goods: Basic/Limited Liability and Full-Value Protection. Each has different levels of financial responsibility and cost, giving you the option that suits your move and your budget.
Basic / Limited Liability Coverage
- This is the standard level of protection – included automatically unless you choose otherwise.
- Coverage is typically based on a fixed amount per pound of weight of goods moved (for example, 60-cents per pound) rather than full replacement value of the items.
- A good choice if the items being moved are of standard value and you’re comfortable with minimal additional cost.
- Note: Because coverage is weight-based and not item-value based, it may not fully cover higher-value possessions if loss or damage occurs.
Full-Value Protection Coverage
- Optional upgrade you may select for higher peace of mind and broader coverage.
-
With this option, Paramount Moving takes responsibility for the declared value of your shipment. If an item is lost, destroyed, or damaged, we will:
- Repair the item;
- Replace it with a similar item of like kind and quality;
- Provide a cash settlement based on current market value.
- Coverage is calculated according to the declared value of your goods, subject to any deductible you select.
- Ideal for moves with high-value, irreplaceable or sentimental items where standard coverage may not suffice.
- Important: High-value items typically must be declared in advance and listed on your inventory for full coverage eligibility.
Example Scenarios: Understanding Your Coverage
Basic / Limited Liability Coverage Example
Basic coverage is automatically included at no additional cost. It’s based on the weight of your items, not their actual replacement value.
Let’s say you have a wooden dresser that weighs 150 pounds and is valued at $1,000.
- Under Basic Coverage (at $0.60 per pound), the maximum reimbursement would be $90 (150 lbs × $0.60/lb).
- Even though the dresser is worth much more, the payout would still be limited to $90.
This option is suitable if you’re moving mostly standard furniture or household items and want to keep insurance costs minimal — but it provides limited financial protection for higher-value belongings.
Full Value Protection Coverage Example
Full Value Protection (FVP) is an optional upgrade that offers far greater protection. With this plan, Paramount Moving takes responsibility for the declared value of your shipment — not just its weight. Ask the Paramount Moving team for the cost of this Coverage.
Using the same dresser example:
- If it’s damaged or lost, we will either repair it, replace it with a similar model, or compensate you for its current market value.
- You might choose a deductible (e.g., $250), and coverage limits are based on the total declared value of your shipment (for example, $10 per pound of total shipment weight).
So, if your total shipment weighs 10,000 lbs, it would be valued at $100,000 total coverage under FVP.
This option is ideal for customers with valuable, irreplaceable, or sentimental items — such as high-end furniture, art, or electronics — who want full peace of mind during the move.
At a Glance: Coverage Comparison
| Coverage Type | Cost | Payout Basis | Example (150 lb dresser worth $1,000) | Recommended For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic / Limited Liability | Included (no cost) | $0.60 per pound per item | $90 | Standard household moves, budget moves |
| Full Value Protection | Optional (extra cost) | Declared value / replacement cost | Repair, replace, or pay market value | High-value or premium moves |
Specialized Television Coverage
Televisions are among the most delicate and valuable items we move, so Paramount Moving provides dedicated TV coverage beyond standard insurance.
Coverage Options
-
Basic Value Protection (Free)
Included with every move. Covers televisions at $0.60 per pound per article, regardless of actual value.
-
TV Replacement Coverage
For greater protection, you can upgrade to our TV Replacement Coverage for $3.50 per $100 of declared value, with a $250 deductible.
If your TV is lost, damaged, or destroyed while in our care, we will:
- Repair the item,
- Replace it with a similar model,
- Provide a cash settlement for the repair or current market value (up to $5,000 per TV).
Important: TVs must be inspected and turned on at pickup and packed in original or Paramount-supplied TV boxes to qualify for coverage.
TVs packed by the customer or picked up from independent storage facilities are not covered under our policy.
We provide up to two telescopic TV boxes free of charge for your convenience. OLED and large-screen TVs require original or specailty boxes for safe transport and full coverage eligibility.
TV Inspection Process
Before and after the move, our team completes a television inspection form documenting each unit’s condition.
- TVs are inspected, powered on, and securely wrapped before loading.
- Upon delivery, we unwrap and recheck the TV’s condition.
- Once our crew leaves the premises, our liability for televisions ends, as outlined in your signed inspection form.
Important Notes
- Full Value Protection must be selected and declared before the move begins.
- High-value items (e.g., jewelry, artwork, collectibles) should be listed separately to ensure full coverage.
- Deductibles and coverage minimums may apply based on your shipment size and declared value.
Safety and Care Standards
We believe prevention is the best protection. Every move includes:
- Floor and surface protection to prevent scuffs or scratches
- Door jamb and banister guards for tight corners
- Professional packing using high-quality moving blankets, shrink-wrap, and straps
- Regular equipment maintenance to ensure trucks and tools are in top condition
- Secure loading methods to prevent shifting during transit
- Ongoing employee training in proper handling, lifting, and customer service
